In the midst of all the chaos, my mission is to make sense of the thousands of technological tools that can be used in education. Do you care to join me in the adventure?
I just found out about a new screencast tool called Screenjelly. What is Screenjelly you ask? It is a free, web-based screen recorder that quickly captures your computer's video and audio so you can share it with others online via Twitter, Facebook, email, etc. It runs in your browser so there is nothing to download. Screenjelly accounts are based on Twitter accounts so if you want to use it you will have to sign up for Twitter if you haven't already. It's the quickest way to share what's happening on your screen and get instant feedback. All you have to do is press the red button to start the recording and you'll have a ready-to-tweet screencast in seconds.
Some other free screencast tools are Jing and Screenr. Jing requires you to download the software but Screenjelly and Screenr do not since they are browser-based. Screenjelly videos are typically three minutes or under. If you would like to record more than three minutes then check out Screentoaster, which is another free screencast tool.
